Simple Ways To Treat Yourself At Home
2020 has easily been the most testing year any of us have experienced. Since March, most of us have been stuck at home and many have adjusted to working from our home office.
The stress many of us have felt this year is beyond anything we imagined, and this is why today we want to talk about how to reduce that stress and treat ourselves.
There are lots of little things you can do at home this month to treat yourself and we want to share some ideas with you this week that you can try!
Bake fudgy brownies
What could be better when you are feeling down than a good dose of chocolate? Brownies are the ultimate comfort treat and you should bake some this week to improve your mood.
Ingredients:
185g dark chocolate
185g butter
50g milk chocolate
50g white chocolate
275g sugar
3 large eggs
40g cocoa powder
85g plain flour
Place a pan on the stove with water, and bring to a simmer. Place a bowl over the pan but not in contact with the water. Melt dark chocolate and butter and leave to cool.
Preheat the oven to 190C and grease a baking dish.
In a bowl, mix eggs and sugar and whisk for 5-8 minutes until tripled in volume.
Add melted chocolate mixture and fold.
Add your dry ingredients and fold gently.
Chop the white and milk chocolate.
Into your greased dish, pour your brownie mixture and then sprinkle the chocolate over the top.
Bake for around 30-40 minutes until the middle no longer wobbles. Leave to cool.
Break out the wine (or drink of your choice)
Wine is the ultimate comfort treat for a winter's night, and a glass of good red wine is a brilliant way to treat yourself this week. Invest in a good bottle of Barolo or Rioja and crack it open while you watch your favorite films.
Order a takeaway
Who wants to cook when they feel stressed? No one. If you really don’t feel like cooking this weekend don’t feel bad! There is no reason you can’t search for pizza places open late in your area and order a comforting takeaway this week. Now and again you need to treat yourself and this is a great way to reduce your stress and allow you to care for your well-being.
Have a pamper session
There is nothing better on a cold and miserable night than to pamper yourself a little bit at home. If you have a bath, you can take the opportunity to use a beautiful bath bomb and watch tv on your laptop while you soak. If you don’t have a bath, you can still enjoy a hot steamy shower and do some facial treatments when you get out. Take some time to really up your skincare routine and will not only relax you but it will feel amazing and your skin will thank you for it!
