6 Ways to Stay Healthy During Your Pregnancy
This is a collaborative post.
- Stay hydrated - Ensure you drink plenty of water as a pregnant woman’s body will need more water than usual.
- Eat healthily - A balanced diet is important to provide you and your baby with the right nutrition.
- Avoid bad substances - Whether it’s smoking or alcohol, avoid substances that can damage your body. This will help reduce the chances of your baby being born with disorders like fetal alcohol spectrum disorder which can cause facial abnormalities and learning disabilities.
- Get plenty of rest - A minimum of 7 to 9 hours of sleep is essential for you and your baby.
- Focus on mental health - Mental health can be just as important as physical health. Make sure you look for ways to reduce your stress. You may want to consider asking friends and family members of help if you’re struggling.
- Choose the right time for pregnancy - If possible, try and plan ahead when it comes to your pregnancy. You want to have a child when you’re at your healthiest, not when you have a lot of stress on your mind.
