My son likes to read, but the book has to hold his attention. He is really into quirky books that make him laugh. We have the first book in the Unlimited Squirrels series by Mo Willems, and he's read it over and over again. So naturally, when the second book arrived, he was super stoked! As a matter of fact, he opened it, ran into the house, and started reading it immediately. The stories are hilarious and entertaining but also covers physical, emotional, and social developmental markers. For example, the first book was about losing your first tooth, which conveniently came when my son was about to lose his first tooth. This ended up making the experience less scary for him. These books are written to not only be entertaining, but guardians and teachers can use them as conversation starters, making these great for classrooms as well as home reading.
About the book:
In Who is the Mystery Reader?, Zoom Squirrel tries out a new superpower with help from a mysterious Mystery Reader. But will the Squirrel pals ever find out who the real Mystery Reader is? Do you know more about reading than the Squirrels do? You will by the end of this book!
About the author:
A number one New York Times best-selling author and illustrator, Mo Willems has been awarded a Caldecott Honor on three occasions (for Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!, Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Tale, and Knuffle Bunny Too: A Case of Mistaken Identity). Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! was also an inaugural inductee into the Indies Choice Picture Book Hall of Fame.
