Date Night In Box: Give Thanks
November has come and gone, which means it's now almost time for Christmas! With the cold, snowy weather (at least here on the east coast), there's no way we are doing date nights out. We prefer to stay indoors unless we absolutely have to go out. So of course, Date Night In Box to the rescue this month!
We definitely needed a date night recently. I've been dealing with some personal things and on top of that, we've been super busy. So I need some one on one time with my hubby to just help ease some stress, and being with him; spending quality time, usually does the trick.
This month's box is all about being thankful. Of course, right? We just had Thanksgiving, so the thankful theme makes sense. But honestly, this month with everything I have going on, I needed reminded that there are many things in my life to be thankful for.
Sometimes you find that your date night isn't just about connecting with your significant other, but also about connecting with yourself spiritually. So to say that I really, truly needed this month's box, would be an understatement.
I actually have really enjoyed the fun little snacks that have included in most boxes and this month, it was a treat that you and your significant other could make together, which made it even more fun. There, of course, were more activities that focused on communication, along with the usual playlist, movie list, and meal plan/recipes which were all themed.
They included a fun little board for you and your significant other to write what you are thankful for that can be wiped off and used again and again. You can keep this somewhere in the house where even the kiddos can participate and everyone in the home can see what each person is thankful for.
Also included, which is pretty much the same concept but on a smaller level, is post it notes. The idea for this is for you to leave little thankful notes around for your significant other to read, like on the mirror, in a lunch box, the steering wheel... you get the idea. My husband and I actually use to do this a lot when we first started dating and for a few years after we got married. We stopped because we just didn't have the time anymore with having kids and a busy life now. It's nice to go back to that, because it was always something that made both of us feel good, especially on a bad day. It's nice to be reminded of all the things our significant other is thankful for about us.
There was a book included this month, which, if I am being honest, didn't really seem to belong in the Date Night Box. It's a children's picture book. I ended up wrapping it up to give to my baby nephew for Christmas.
The game for this box is a fun word card game. You choose a word and take turns laying down letter cards (cards are double sided), one at a time, to change the word. My kids actually have been having fun with this game as well.
The snack item this month was actually a drink that you got to make yourself. It was a caramel apple cider float, which I, myself, was pretty excited about because I love caramel, apples, and cider. We really enjoyed making the homemade ice cream and it was absolutely delicious. However, the reason I didn't get photos of our floats is because they looked terrible, if I'm being honest. 😂 Ours definitely didn't look as appetizing as the one in the photo inside the newsletter, but you know what? We still had a lot of fun with it and it didn't taste half bad so it was still a successful night, I think!
I'm looking forward to next month's box, which is Winter Wonderland themed, and I imagine it's going to have some pretty cozy items in it. Hot cocoa, maybe? Who knows, but it looks like it's another good one, so you do not want to miss out!
