Dispatch by Breakout: The Immersive Mystery Where You Are The Detective
I have been a lover of mysteries since I was pretty young. I read a lot of Agatha Christie and played a lot of Clue and various mystery themed PC games growing up. I still love a good mystery, and the idea of immersive mysteries are always fun for me. I absolutely love the idea of a story with evidence that I can physically touch and look at while I try to solve the clues. Dispatch is the newest immersive mystery box where you become the detective.
First of all, the box is the best one I have ever received. You can tell immediately that they went all out with this. I've done other mystery boxes before and they tend to ship in plain envelopes. This box immediately gets you excited about what you are going to find inside. It's fun right from the start, before you even open it!
In this first box you are unraveling the mystery of a murder of a well known heiress, allegedly committed by a close childhood friend, the victim's husband, who is now missing. The box is full of physical clues to sift through and a journal detailing clues and information from the start of the investigation. The attention to detail in these physical clues is impressive. The newspaper and magazine pages all look and feel realistic. The journal has quite a bit of info inside as well.
In addition to the physical clues, you will be lead to mock social media and web sites online to help you solve the crime. It really puts you in the detective hat and can be solved alone or in a group. Let me tell you though, from experience, immersive mysteries are always so much fun in groups. There are more brains to solve and more eyes to look over clues. That's why this makes a great addition to family game nights! Age wise, I would say it may be a little more difficult for younger children, but with a little help, I think middle-grade kids could figure a lot of it out. Forget your classic murder mystery party and give immersive mystery box, Dispatch, a chance at your next party.
It also makes a great gift!
