#NSNation Journey: Week 2 Results

Week 2 on Nutrisystem was a lot harder than I thought it would be. Truthfully, I was looking forward to being done with week 1, because that meant I got to try new foods and eat a little bit more. I got to add dairy and whole grains as well as fruits.

I had a rough week mentally. I had to try really hard not to stress eat after dealing with some disturbing and mentally draining things this week. Stress eating is what got me in the position I am in, in the first place. The last two years had been hell, and while I spent many nights wide awake out of fear, anxiety, and just stress in general, I would raid the cupboards and polish off an entire bag of chips or an entire package of cookies. So this week, when I felt like feeding my face while contemplating why someone would tell another person to go kill themselves, I struggled pretty hard. Luckily, while I did slip up and have a few extra snacks, I still managed to make them healthy snacks with very little calories. I'm learning as I go, and it's definitely not easy.

My meal schedule for this week was almost exactly like the first week's, however I also got to add dessert as well as smart carbs and power fuels. It was nice to have hard boiled eggs and string cheese as well as the new Nutrisystem foods. This week I didn't really run into any foods that I thought were bad tasting. As a matter of fact, this week I tried lots of foods that were so delicious that they may end up being favorites. Like the Salisbury steak and mac and cheese for example. It was probably the best salisbury steak and mac and cheese I've ever had that wasn't home made.

Another favorite of mine are the melts for lunch and I really love that I can have olives!
For snack, I've been making mini snack wraps with half of a whole wheat tortilla, one slice of cheese, and two slices of turkey. The best part is that not only are they filling but they are only 140 calories! That's actually less than a lot of the Nurtisystem snacks that you get!

In addition to adding new meals, I also added a new workout that I do at night while I'm catching up on shows. I still do my "fast 55" in the mornings, but at night I do this one:

40 jumping jacks
30 crunches
20 squats
10 push-ups

I have been doing this during every commercial break. For every 1 hour show, there are about 5 commercial breaks, so you can burn a lot of calories this way. Then of course, there are the days when I've reached my daily goal before noon because of running around cleaning the house and chasing after my little guy.

Personally, my opinion of week 2 is that it seems almost like I'm eating too much food, especially when you compare it to how little I was eating in week 1. Naturally, I didn't expect to lose as much weight as I did at my week 1 weigh-in. Heck, even during week 1 I didn't expect that much. I was pretty sure I was on the right track to lose at least a pound a week especially with increasing activity level.

Unfortunately, when I stepped on the scale for week 2 weigh-in, I found I had gained 2 pounds. I know that's no big deal and that sometimes this is going to happen. I also think the 2 pound gain may be because it's that week in my cycle where I tend to weigh a few pounds more anyways. Even so, seeing 134 this week when last weeks was an amazing 132, is a little depressing. On the positive side of it, my clothes feel looser and since your body can gain muscle and throw the weight on the scale, it's best to go with measurements. I am aiming to take monthly (instead of weekly) measurements so I guess only time will tell, but as week 3 approaches, I press on and remain positive that I can reach my goal weight by the time my 12 week journey is complete.

WEEK TWO RESULTS
Start weight: 140 lbs
Week 1 weigh in: 132 lbs
Week 2 weigh in: 134 lbs
Goal weight: 120-115
