Thank A Special Nurse + Special Giveaway! #Sponsored
I remember when I was pregnant with my son in 2012. The experience was so unlike my pregnancy with my daughter back on 2006. For starters, I rarely ever saw my OBGYN with my second pregnancy. I think out of the entire 9 months, I may have saw my Doc, 3 times unless I specifically requested to see him.
With my first pregnancy, naturally, I was very inquisitive and he answered all the questions I had, but when I was pregnant with my second baby, I realized how different doctors are from nurses. My OBGYN's entire staff of nurses were so very kind and I felt like they took extra special care and anytime I had a question, they would sit down, face to face, and fully explain things until I felt better. The nurses were gentle, with soft voices that soothed me when I was anxious.
It was one of the nurses that managed to get me in to be induced a few days early because of how uncomfortable and in pain I was. It was the maternity nurses that managed to somehow find me an empty room during a day when the entire maternity ward was completely full. And when my water broke and I went into labor on my own merely hours before I was to be induced, it was the labor and delivery nurses that kept me calm and comfortable.

I chose to breast feed my son when previously I had bottle fed my daughter and my son and I had some trouble getting the hang of it. Those wonderful ladies were a huge help in reassuring me that I was perfectly capable of doing this and if I chose not to and chose to bottle feed instead, then that was okay, too. When I got sick and couldn't breast feed anymore I felt ashamed and felt like I failed. It was those wonderful nurses I met the day I gave birth to my son that reassured me that I was not a failure, that sometimes things like that happened, and it was perfectly okay because I tried my best.
I don't think I could thank those wonderful ladies enough for everything they did for me. They didn't treat me like a patient. They treated me like family. Nurses do so much more than people realize, and I truly believe they deserve recognition for the wonderful people they are.
Pampers Swaddlers has launched their "Thank A Nurse" campaign, where you can nominate your favorite Labor & Delivery, NICU, and Postpartum nurse.
Pampers invites parents to share their stories of nurses who helped make life #betterforbaby by submitting a nurse nomination to the Pampers Swaddlers Thank You Nurses Awards at www.tongal.com/pampersnurses. Nurse nominations can be submitted between November 9th and December 14th.
Three finalists, one in each category (Labor & Delivery, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Postpartum), will be announced in March and the grand prize honoree will be announced in May. The finalists will be honored with short documentary videos showcasing their unique and inspirational nursing stories, receive a one-year membership to the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN), attendance at the 2016 AWHONN Convention, Procter & Gamble care packages, and more!
In honor of these nurse winners, three Pampers Swaddlers scholarships will be made available to help nurses from underrepresented groups complete their studies toward a Master of Science in Nursing degree.
I don't know about you, but I think this is an excellent way to thank a special nurse!
