Crayola Creations: Thread Wrapper

I'm always on Pinterest (who isn't, am I right?) and frequently see projects, especially for headphone cords that involves wrapping thread by hand around objects to make them more colorful and personalized. That really seems awfully tedious, and to be honest, who has time for that sort of thing?

Then I discovered Crayola Creations Thread Wrapper. 

The initial kit comes with the thread wrapping machine, 6 spools of colored thread, two empty spools to make your own thread colors, and one Crayola marker.

It's beyond easy to work with, having only three steps. You thread the machine, wrap a bit of the thread around the object you want to decorate, and place the item in the machine, moving it in and out of the machine as it wraps it until you get your desired look. You can wrap just about anything; headphone cords, brushes, hair bands, jewelry, the stems of glasses, pens and pencils... it's honestly endless. The best part is that you can have something wrapped in less than two minutes, where if you were to do this by hand, it would take you hours, not to mention your hands would hurt. 

You can even color your own thread, by using a Crayola marker and an empty spool. 

Crayola also has these refill kits for the thread wrapper and those kits come with extra tread in different colors, Crayola markers, as well as glitter (and clear) glaze so you can make your creations sparkle.

I really think you could go to Walmart or Target and purchase spools of thread for this if you wanted different colors. I'm not sure if they would fit on the wrapper, but you could wrap up one of the empty spools with some of the new thread and go from there. 

I did find that sometimes the spools are a little rough to remove, but I think it's better that way than them being loose and coming off while it wraps. 

I, personally, think it's pretty fun and would recommend it for ages 8 and up, although I think younger children could use this with a little help from an adult.
