Hard Candy Galactic Eyes Palette is Out of This World!
In the last two years, I have cut back on putting on makeup. I go most of the week without it, except for on weekends and when we have company or go some place. To be honest, the lack of use has made me a little picky about the quality of the makeup I use when I do use it.
The majority of the time I put on makeup, it's a simple, natural look. However, for holidays, photoshoots, conventions, and sometimes date nights, I like to do something pretty elaborate. Mixing multiple colors and doing pretty intense looks with bold colors.
Hard Candy has introduced it's new Galactic Eyes Palette for Spring 2018, and I got my hands on one to test out for you! How exciting!
I love space themed things! There's just something about the colors of the night sky, outer space, planets, and starts that just appeal to me and this palette includes all those beautiful colors you would expect to find in space. Think along the lines of the beautiful colors you see in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies. Lovely purples, greens, and blues, and shimmery blacks, browns, and golds.
I am obsessed with the teal color honestly. It's definitely my favorite.
The colors in this palette are so beautiful. The camera really doesn't pick up on the gorgeousness as well as I would like, but if you see this in person, you will understand. So we know the colors are great, but how about the pigment? How does it go on the lids?
Initially, when I swatched these onto my arm, I used my finger.
They went on really well with my finger. You can see how shimmery they are despite the terrible lighting that this gloomy time of year has cursed my photos with.
Upon actually using these with my makeup brushes, I have discovered that they don't go on as well. When applying these, you most definitely want to make sure you have a really good primer first of all. Second, in order to get these on your lids without making a mess, as these shadows are kind of flakey, lightly tap it onto your lids instead of swiping. They have a little trouble blending, but after working at it for a bit, I was able to blend the colors, some better than others, and I had to reapply primer a few times to get a much bolder color application. The upside to these is that they last. Even when I swatched them onto my arm, with no primer and just my finger, then tried to rub the colors off, the color stayed. I had to use soap and water and basically scrub it off my arm. So the shadow goes on kind of messy, but it's long lasting.
I guess it really depends on what you are looking for in a product, but I an get past the flakey shadows because I really love these colors and when applied carefully, they really do look amazing and I love them!
I used the yellow on the inner corners, teal in the middle, and then blended out from pink to purple. I am playing around with the idea of doing different Guardians of the Galaxy looks with this palette, which I will definitely share on Instagram of course. This palette reminds me of those movies so much, that I'm dying to give that little challenge a try. I'm thinking of looks inspired by Gamora, Mantis, Ronin, Groot...
